Deputy Principal
Welcome back after the long weekend, made longer by our school closure. It is always great seeing students come through the front gate in the morning. It’s an excellent way to start the day seeing their smiles.
School Operations
You may have seen some big gardening works going on at the school. With a new gardener, we are hitting some areas of the school very hard to clean it up and prepare for spring. During this time, things will look a little different. We are closing Tim’s Garden for a bit while we get some work done inside and around it. Teachers will have spoken to their students about this. It is currently the best season to have this work done and more rigorous works are planned over the holidays.
Religious Education
We had Pentecost on the weekend which means we are back into Ordinary Time in the Liturgical Calendar. Each class has a prayer table with prayer cloths for red, green, and purple, and then their white calico they decorate. Teachers are also provided liturgical colours calendar to help them. You can view this here. Each day, they are asked to rotate these cloths to represent the liturgical colour. This helps students identify that there are different colours throughout the year, and they represent different things.
We do have our last two level Masses for the year this term. Our Year 1 Mass will run next Friday 20 June from 9:30am - 10:30am. Everyone is welcome, not just parents of students in that level. Then we will have our Prep and Year 6 combined mass on Thursday 3 July, also at 9:30am - 10:30am. We will then have a break until December when we hold our whole school mass in the stadium next door. We hope anyone who is available makes their way down over the next two occasions, and we see as many faces as possible at our end of year mass.
Our Year 6 students have their Confirmation workshops this week. Ms Bentley and Mrs Balnionis participated in the workshop on Tuesday 10. Here, students and families go through information pertaining to the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit, and Confirmation itself. It’s a great experience, and having done many of these workshops, you learn something every time you attend. We are excited for those students who are completing their initiation into the Catholic Church.
