Library News
On Wednesday 25th May we celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime. (NSS). This event is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops, and many other places around the country. Students at St Catherine’s engaged in the reading/sharing of the story and participated in a range of activities such as class murals, family portraits, story retells, art reflections, author/illustrator studies, and many more. It was wonderful to see a buzz around the school as students engaged in their learning through this event.
In other library news, the library continues to be a place where students enjoy selecting books each week to enjoy at home with their families. This week our treasure has been filled with brand new picture storybooks. Students have embraced the opportunity to borrow from the treasure chest and the new bookshelf.
The library has also been very popular with our lunchtime clubs.
